August 13, 2007 Hello San Francisco Folkboaters! What a sight! Twenty Folkboats on the starting line, with sailors from seven countries at the helm. That’s what it will be like the week of September 16-22, 2007, as we host the fourteenth International Regatta for Nordic Folkboats at The San Francisco Yacht Club in Belvedere.
There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the regatta, meet our
visiting crews, and be part of this exciting event even if you are not
racing yourself. A full
schedule is enclosed.

Opening Ceremony and Champagne Reception at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September
16, on the deck of The San Francisco Yacht Club, 98 Beach Road,
Belvedere.
v
Monday evening bar-be-que at the home of Tom Reed and Lee Ann Chernack
in Tiburon. $20. Tickets may be purchased in advance (below) or at the
Regatta Desk.
v
Trophy dinner and celebration on Saturday evening, September 22, at The
San Francisco Yacht Club beginning with no-host cocktails at 6:30 p.m.
and dinner at 7:30. In
addition to the awards, we expect entertaining presentations from the
national teams. (Ever heard the Danes sing after a week of racing?)
$65. Choice of beef
or fish. Wine included with dinner.
Purchase tickets by Monday, September 17, by mail (below) or at
the Regatta Desk.
There are several volunteer opportunities:
assist at the Regatta Desk, help out with the Monday evening
bar-be-que, assist with boat maintenance, or participate on the race
committee boat, to name a few.
There will be a spectator boat that will follow the
fleet each day. Sign up in
advance at the Regatta Desk or at eaashcroft@aol.com
to ensure a spot.
This year our fleet is celebrating fifty years on
the Bay. Great sailing,
good fellowship and a beautiful venue have given the Folkboat fleet such
staying power. Please be
part of the celebration!
