2010 Easter Cruise CANCELED due to Weather

Hello Easter on Angel Island Attendees and Volunteers-

We regret that we have to cancel the Folkboat Easter Cruise and Champagne Brunch on Angel Island on Sunday, April 4, 2010.  Forecasts predict rainy, cold and possibly windy weather for Sunday.  In addition rain over the past week is likely to make the picnic grounds soggy.

We have 80 people signed-up plus 6 children under age 6 that we know about.   We will return everyone's check to them.

We will try to schedule  another Angel Island event when the weather should be better.

Volunteers:    If you have already purchased items for the Easter event please submit your receipts to me for reimbursement by the fleet.  If they are perishable items, enjoy!  Hang on to anything else for the next Folkboat party.

Call me or email me with any questions.

Weather Update

Posted: 3/30/2010

Dear Easter Cruise Attendees and Volunteers,

As you may be noticing the weather forecast for Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 is currently not looking good.

However, things may change later in the week and we want to wait until Friday morning, April 2 to make a decision on cancellation/postponement of the Easter Cruise.  If we have to cancel the cruise, we will schedule a similar cruise and picnic for later in the year.

We are hoping for the best and will only cancel, if the forecast calls for rain on Sunday. We are encouraging attendees to come even if the weather is not expected to be perfect (light intermittent showers).  Under these conditions, usually midday weather is good.   We suggest that you bring light rain apparel, umbrellas, and light ground covers. We will make arrangements for sheltering the food.

Volunteers:  If you are responsible for perishable items (eg., turkeys, asparagus, green salad, eggs, baked goods, etc.), we would request that you delay purchase until Friday.  On Friday afternoon we will send out an email confirming our decision.  If you have purchased any items already, SFBFA will reimburse you whether or not we have the cruise.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact David.
