Very Limited. I am familiar with the basics of sailing and have some experience sailing Lasers in Corte Madera Creek, as well as completing a fundamentals course sailing 14 foot, 2 person boats in the Bay.

I have basic keelboat certificate and used to sail out of Sausalito, and after moving to Portland some time ago I am eager to get back into sailing. I have been toying with the idea of chartering a Folkboat in the summer, but am concerned that I am being over ambitous. I would like to familiarize myself with the boat to gain confidence.
I am willing to be in the Bay area with some advance warning, or if you know of any willing Folkboat owners in the Portland area, that might be open for crew, please let me know.

I am from New Zealand. I am in the finishing stages of my folkboat restoration, which is here, http://forum.woodenboat.com/showthread.php?88325-A-folkboat-found-me
It would be of major advantage to me to get on the water on one of these boats so as to get a feel for what I have brought back to life.
I am a quick learner, agile and versatile. If you need help ,feed me beer, and I am on it.

I’ve just moved to SF from Australia and am keen to take advantage of its amazing Bay. Most of my sailing experience has been on a Flying 15 (2 person keeled racer) on Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin (rather smaller than San Francisco Bay!!). I have no formal training but have been racing the FF for the past 3 years.

I owned a folkboat for about four years and raced it in the Wed. night series in SF. withan all -woman crew.  I am probably not the best person for foredeck work, but
can do about anything else needed. I also lived on it for a year, and took it down to
barewood at Sven's boatyard.
I can get to SF, Sausalito, or Alameda  for a race or day sail anytime.

I am new to racing and would like to get onto a boat for summer. I sailed as a kid in the summers, and last winter took a few ASA courses. I just joined OCSC and did my first Beer Can (CYC) on April 9th !

Grew up on the Maine coast and sailed dinghies in Vinalhaven's Crockett's Cove as a kid. More recently, my wife and I took a weekend beginner course through SailMaine in a Catalina 22 to get the basics, then got a cat-rigged Hobiecat for zooming around Casco Bay. I had a blast sailing it off beaches and Town Landing in Falmouth last summer. I love sailing, and it would be really great to do it on a Folkboat! As an aside, I think wooden boats are beautiful and I have the bottom of a Welsford Navigator cut out in our basement back in Maine and a well worn copy of Chapelle's Boatbuilding in my bookshelf. It would be great to see some clinker-built Folkboats up close and speak with the folks who love and care for them.

I have been sailing for about three years and racing for two. I race on Express 27s, Viper 640s and have sailed on J24s and a C&C 36 for some time. I am looking for more experience on seaworthy boats.

I have raced in the bay for 7 or more years on my Carl Alberg Ariel and also helm a 33 ft. Ranger in the summer at the Sierra Point YC.
I've won 1st place in the Oakland Estuary winter races and have also won 1st place in the single handed three bridge race.

I purchased an old wooden folkboat recently which will be in restoration for the next few months so I'd like to crew once or twice to get the feel of this type of boat.

I am available to crew or helm, and am often available on short notice. I have extensive experience racing everything from high performance dinghies/mutilhulls/kiteboards to larger keelboats. I successfully helmed the 36' Islander Tenacious to 2nd place at the Nationals (City Front) last fall - it was my first time at the wheel of this boat. Typically I'm the headsail trimmer and offer advice on tactical calls. I've enjoyed observing the Folkboat series and I am keen to get involved as soon as possible - it looks like a great class and a really fun boat!

I just moved to the City in October and just met Ben Blackburn who gave me your email. He said you are involved in racing in the Bay? I did a bit of racing at Oxford (40 foot boats) and UC Santa Cruz (F-Jays) and have my ASA captain's licence. I would love to get involved in sailing/racing here, but don't exactly know where to start. I thought you might have a suggestion. I live in Potrero hill, and will be around this weekend if there is a chance to get out.
